The Rewards of Awards | Case Study

This week we celebrate 10 years since the Sydney Olympics. If you are a Sydney-sider you’d remember the weight of anticipation as Juan Antonio Samaranch said the magic words, ‘And the winner is: Syd-den-ney!’

Entering major competitions where our capabilities and skills are lined-up side by side with our competitors may seem a little daunting, however the wins are well worth it.

A cost effective way to develop strong public relations, manage your reputation and develop good-will amongst your community of clients, suppliers and prospects is to enter into award programs. Whilst the entry form may take a little time to fill in, the results can create memories for a long time to come.

Til next time,

It seems that every industry now offers its Oscar-equivalent. Winning awards has become a popular pursuit for businesses across Australia; from corner stores to corporate icons – and with good reason.

Winning an industry gong or being named a finalist brings both fame and fortune. The return on investment that awards bring to any marketing activity makes an entry really worthwhile.
1. Awards stamp your organisation with professional credibility. Prospects are far more likely to believe your capabilities if they have been recognised by your peak industry body.

2. The application process is valuable in itself, forcing you to assess your organisation, identify its strengths and articulate its points of difference. These ideas provide great material for your entire marketing communications and business development.

3. Winning or becoming a finalist provides an opportunity to showcase your work and build a reputation amongst your peers as an industry leader, which inevitably leads to larger business opportunities. . .

A successful award submission is more than filling in a few forms. You need to analyse your offering, identify your point of difference and articulate your strengths with persuasive copy.

This year Zadro Communications helped Will Organise take out the MEA National Award for Meetings or Events Management Organisation (less than 8 employees). We also recently helped the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre and Belle-Laide Events achieve Finalist status in the Australian Event Awards.

While we wait with crossed fingers for the winners announcement, here is a quick look at how the Belle-Laide Events submission got this far in the race for Event Manager of the Year.

We conducted a thorough interview with the Directors to gather information about their working processes and achievements. We asked in-depth questions based on the criteria, but went further, asking questions from. . .
